TOM FORD - BLACK ORCHID

FROM THE MAN WHO BELIEVES NOTHING IS MORE DESIRABLE THAN THAT WHICH IS UNATTAINABLE. WE BRING YOU THE ONE AND ONLY MR FORD.

NOW I love a bit of Tom Ford. That’s a lie - I love it alot! Him, the product, all of it! It’s a bit of a ‘gimme, gimme, gimme’ syndrome one gets with this brand (that’s slang for ‘give me’ on speed for the more eloquent and controlled of you). Controlled in the presence of this brand I’m most certainly not and nor are most beauty journalists I know which is rather ironic as Mr Tom Ford himself is the most well put together, perfectly groomed, stylish man on the entire planet.  So it’s a funny thing that he sends so many women into a near frenzy. But that’s the whole point and indeed the allure. What can I say, it’s a paradox, and this is intriguing in itself. We’re all driven wild by what he and the Tom Ford brand offers - sexy, slick, faultless style and guess what you can even get it in a bottle.

Enter Black Orchid - Ford’s promise in a fragrance. Open it up and you access the dream! The woman who wears this, his first signature fragrance, is drawn to all things luxurious, sophisticated and sensual. Created by the man that revived Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent through incredible collections and provocative ad campaigns, the man who quite litterally increased their sales from millions to billions, the man who changed the face of fashion in so many respects, becoming a household name as a result. Why? Aside from being a genius (obvs) this man quite simply understands the deep power of sex appeal in a woman and how to convey it under an umbrella of pure sophistication and class. His medium is fashion and beauty which is a piece of him made accessible to us. Now you may understand my (and the rest of the industry’s) crazed frenzy a little better.

Black Orchid, a luxurious and sensual scent, evokes iconic fragrances of the past with it’s rich dark accords and alluring potion of black orchids and spice. It is both modern and timeless - yet again another paradox. Including Black Truffle, Ylang, Bergamot and Black Currant in the top notes, with a dramatic signature unfolding as the custom-made Tom Ford Black Orchid (dark florals and rich fruit accords) reveals itself and deepened by the intoxicating Lotus Wood. Finally, notes of Noir Gourmand Accord is balanced by Patchouli, Incense and Vetiver. Vanilla Tears add a fluid creaminess to warm Balsam and smooth Sandalwood. And oh how we love the jet black Art Deco style glamorous bottle it is housed in. GO, GO, GO and GET IT!
