Everyone, but everyone will be watching to see who dresses Meghan when she marries Prince Harry on Saturday. One thing is for sure - they’re bound to be British. We round up our top favourite British Bridal contenders.
The Hot Favourite: Ralph and Russo
This is the label that has got fashion tongues wagging within the industry after Meghan wore a bespoke black embodied Ralph & Russo gown for her engagement photos. The brand is known for being desperately glamorous, mostly spotted at red carpet events. It would make perfect sense for her to follow through with this, claiming them as her own.
The Classic Choice: Amanda Wakeley
It has been made widely known that quite understandably Prince Harry and Meghan have wanted to honour Princess’ Diana’s memory at their wedding. Wakeley was one of the late Princess’ favourite designers and has dressed Meghan since she arrived formally on the Royal scene. Her designs are perfectly in line with Markle’s own distinct chic and simple style making for a fantastically stylish choice.
Homage to the Queen: Stewart Parvin
As the Queen's favourite dress designer, it would certainly be a pleasing touch to Her Majesty if she chose Parvin, as tribute to her warmth and kindness welcoming her into the family.
Following in Kate’s footsteps: Alexander McQueen
As this was the Duchess of Cambridge’s bridal designer, it is unlikely she’ll choose McQueen, understandably wanting to make her own fashion mark. However we like the idea of starting a new Royal bridal tradition following in the footsteps of her new sister-in-law to be.
Designer of the Moment: Erdem
Rumoured to be a strong contender as one of the biggest British fashion designers of the moment and a big favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge who has been photographed in the brand on multiple occasions. His designs are fashionable yet desperately feminine.
The Detailed Dress: Jenny Packham
From the fash pack through to the A-listers and Royals, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t love Jenny Packham’s designs. Her signature use of heavy embellishment ensure for a show stopping look teamed with Packham’s affinity with grace and elegance. This is what we call a foolproof look!
The Society Girl Designer: Phillipa Lepley
Markle told Glamour Magazine in 2016 that her dream wedding dress, “is very pared down and relaxed. Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist.” Known for being the go-to designers for society girls, combined with Lepley’s signature clean lines, simple silhouettes and oh-so British traditional look, this could be a perfect match.
