With summer around the corner, we know everyone is planning those summer holidays – but better yet, those holiday wardrobes. With a long bucket list of destinations we are longing to travel too, our summer 2018’s top pick is Spain. Too most Brit’s, Spain isn’t the grand escape for the summer months, but Melia Spain Hotel’s has proven that theory wrong. Our most coveted summer essential is the kaftan. Take this transformative summer staple from the beach, to town, to a chic meal. Here’s a guide on what to expect, and how to dress for each city.

Our first destination is Sitges, just a stone’s throw away from Barcelona, and now officially on everyone’s must-visit list thanks to the opening of a swanky new ME by Melia hotel. Expect perfect beaches, historic buildings and some seriously glamorous nightlife, while the town is lined with chic boutiques and authentic local restaurants offering delicious freshly-caught produce. Come dressed in style, but think low-key flats as opposed to your Ibiza heels…. (save those noticeable prints for the rest of the trip)

Our next stop is to Mallorca, where Melia has an array of different hotels scattered across the island, with our personal favourite being the ludicrously glamorous Gran Melia de Mar.  Over the years Mallorca has transformed into one of the chicest destinations for holiday goers: come for the beautiful white-sand beaches (260 to be exact) and crystal clear blue water, but stay for the amazing culture. If you’re staying at the hotel in Palma, be sure to check out Es Baluard, a museum that houses the works of Picasso and other greats. If you’re looking for something more upbeat, head to Nikki Beach or Purobeach Palma, and make sure you stay for the sunset.

The last and final stop on this picture-perfect Spainish holiday is Ibiza. After so much relaxation, we’ve arrived at the party destination of the world! Throw on that super vibrant kaftan you’ve kept at the bottom of your suitcase, grab a cocktail at the Blue Marlin and embrace your bohemian side. Melia has three stunning resorts across the city, but you can’t go wrong with ME Ibiza, built into the rocks and boasting magnificent ocean views for miles. If you aren’t an Ibiza regular, let us help you out: the guest relations team will help you rent a boat to take you to Formentera for a day of sun, rosé and freshly caught seafood at Juan y Andrea. Continue the party through to dinner at LIO or La Paloma (don’t even think of turning up without a reservation or a serious bribe though). End the day with dancing under the night sky at one of Ibiza’s infamous clubs, which on any given night will be playing host to some of the worlds most famous DJ’s. Oh and do try to carve some shopping time in between all that parting - the local boutiques are edited to perfection.
