Having earned her stripes working with some of the best known names in the business from Karl Lagerfeld to Amanda Wakeley she started her own label in 2012 and creates for modern women in real situations – a well placed bow or ruffle makes all the difference whether you are looking for day to day elegance or something for a special occasion. As Anna says “Whether nonchalantly elegant or slyly modest you will always be effortlessly well

dressed in Anna Mason” I couldn’t agree more!

By appointment only, but well worth it

Just off Knightsbridge on Beauchamp place near Harrods, Shavata is one of my all time favourites!  Shavata herself is a petite elegant brow genius.  As she expertly puts it “Every room has a focal point, like a fireplace or a painting, which always has a frame around it.  In the same way, eyebrows silently frame your face, bringing out the eyes”.

With each client, Shavata takes into account their age and their occupation and the depth of the hair- why? Because everyone is different and lifestyle is also an important factor to consider whether you want a more high maintenance look or something more natural, everything is possible.  Her most popular treatment is eyebrow threading but they also offer tints, lash lifts (yep!) and microblading (a new generation semi-permanent make-up treatment).  What I love here is the personal approach and the results are always immaculate.

Not 5 minutes walk from Pimlico tube station down a lovely villagey street is Moreton Place, a beautiful jewel of a day spa with impeccable design and an impressive catalogue of brands and treatments.   With beautiful treatment rooms, in muted greys and even a secret garden at the back, you feel like you are miles from London and will want to stay all day!

The Moreton place resident facialist and skin expert, Gillian has over 25 years experience in the beauty industry working for some of the best known brands in the world and in her hands your skin will be glowing and dewy in no time.

Must try:  Natura Bisse collagen shock facial a rejuvenating treatment which lifts and firms the skin and minimises fine lines and wrinkles – I am hooked. .

Mathew is an experienced hair stylist and seasoned make up guru, often on call for magazines and celebrities when it comes to a glam squad for fashion shoots and red carpet events.

The new salon opens this month and is set over two floors, offering all the hair styling services as you would expect, but lots of other wonderful things besides – have a full make up make over with Mathew and some of the hottest brands around such as Pat McGrath Labs, Sisley or Tom Ford or even book a lesson to learn how to do it yourself! There is also a portrait service available, by way of a collaboration with photographer Stephen Perry to capture your new look!

Mathew uses sustainable hair care brands ‘HairStory’ & ‘Davines’, and continues the eco friendly theme throughout the salon with recycled marble worktops, eco friendly paint and  ‘Green Hug’ styling chairs - made from mostly recycled & recyclable materials. The beautiful atrium is dressed with an extensive selection of plants - from ‘Blomenelle’, who will have a pop up space within the salon, selling succulents, cacti & other plants.

Mathew is a wonderful character and a mine of beauty information so book an appointment, grab a coffee and enjoy this beautiful space.

Take a stroll down Conduit street these days and you will see quite a few new boutiques have sprung up among the firm favourites.

Jovoy is one such gem.  Founded by Francois Henin, the London boutique opened in 2017 with the aim of bringing together an unparalleled selection of fragrances from across the globe in one place and it has definitely delivered. Take your time to browse and allow shop manager Oli Marlow to guide you through the gleaming bottles and intoxicating scents on offer and look out for the Amber Gris in the cabinets downstairs, and maybe they will let you smell it if you ask nicely!

Must try:  the new brand Jeroboam, created by Henin himself which is a collection of 5 fragrances based on different musks – heaven!

I just discovered this new jewellery designer recently and I am already building up quite a significant wish list!! Started in 2017 by ex-management consultant Ayesha Malhotra, this is a unique selection of handcrafted luxury gemstone jewellery set in silver or brass, gold plated and perfect for everyday wear or for a special occasion. Topaz, Rose Quartz and Rini stones are mixed with Labradite, Moonstones and Jade.  The pieces are delicate, colourful and true one-offs.  Ayesha says each piece was inspired by the Indian tradition of handing down your most loved jewellery to future generations.  I am particularly in love with the multi-stone cocktail rings and the Chandelier Topaz earrings as worn by the gorgeous Rachel Shenton at the Oscars this year so I won’t be handing anything down just yet!

Catch her at her pop-up shop NOW at 7b Kensington Church Street W8 4LF or at

How I love Shoreditch! Once a neglected part of the city, it is now a vibrant, creative hub and well worth a visit.  Take the tube to Shoreditch High Street or Old Street and wander through the small roads lined with thriving independent boutiques.  Mr Start, is one such store, founded by designer Philip Start and currently celebrating 10 years. It brings together a fusion of classic tailoring, chic styling and offers an experience like no other.  Drawing inspiration from French films of the 1960’s and the street style of Shoreditch it specialises in elegantly styled tailoring, luxurious shirts and hand-crafted knitwear, mixing classic favourites and emerging trends. Talk to Lizzie Walker, the store manager to find the perfect outfit for your London nights out!
